Ladies and gentlemen, sharpen your scissors! There’s going to be a whole lot of hair cutting going on April 22 (Earth Day), when Aveda will host a global 24-hour hair cutting marathon at Aveda Salons, Institutes and Experience Centers. Aveda stylists from around the world–Tokyo, Sydney, London, Berlin, New York and Minneapolis–will volunteer their haircutting expertise in return for a client’s donation. The event will kick off in Asia and continue around the globe hour by hour through Europe and North America.
The goal is to raise $5 million globally for the protection of clean water over the month of April and to set a Guinness World Record on Earth Day for most money raised for charity by haircuts in a 24-hour period. Since 1999, Aveda has raised more than $26 million to help support organizations that directly affect environmental change. Since 2007, more than $20 million of this amount has been earmarked for water-related causes.
Whether you’re looking for a trim or full-on chop, letting an Aveda stylist run their fingers through your hair on Earth Day will serve the dual purpose of making the Earth and her inhabitants more beautiful. Find a participating location at Aveda.com/events.
